National Polar Science Expedition Training Manual Published
Turkey’s studies on polar regions were put under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey in 2017, and has gained a remarkable momentum since then. National Polar Science Expeditions started with the first National Antarctic Science Expedition in 2017 that was followed by 5 expeditions, 4 of which were to the Antarctic and 1 to the Arctic.
Before National Polar Science Expeditions, meetings are held for the coordination, information and training of participants. During the trainings, participants are expected to get experience about the environment to be visited by using the needed infrastructure and equipment. In line with this expectation, in order to make the scope and details of the trainings permanent and to share the accumulation of knowledge, the below-named field experts issued National Polar Science Expedition Training Manual.
National Polar Science Expedition Training Manual contains useful information that can be applied not only in polar regions but also in daily life emergencies. The Manual to maximize the safety of Polar Expedition participants is expected to make a contribution to the studies by Turkey in Polar Regions.
