Turkey became a party to the Antarctic Treaty in 1996. Since then, Turkey continues intensive research and develops scientific collaboration in Antarctica. To present the polar research activities of Turkey, TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute participated in the 43rd Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) hosted by France which is being held in virtual plaftorm this year due to the pandemic. ATCM plays an important role in the protection of the Continent and shedding light on science by developing cooperation. Within the context of the meeting, a joint video prepared by the contributions of France, England, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Chile, Ukraine, Uruguay and Turkey was broadcast simultaneously on 17:00.
"The Japanese, Ukrainian, English, Uruguayan, Chilean, Malaysian, Korean, Turkish and French wintering teams have sent us a message from the Antarctic stations on the occasion of the RCTA which is currently being held in Paris, an international visit to the white continent!"
