Under the coordination of Van Fine Arts High School Visual Arts/Painting Teacher Murat Özaraz and Philosophy Group Teacher Özge Odabaşı Koç, informative meetings were held with volunteering 12th Grade Painting Department students Arzu Kara, Beyza Güngör, Bedirhan Uzunay, Neçirvan Mamedi, Furkan Çolbay, Furkan Adsaz, Yılmaz Bakır, Hüseyin Kaplan, Muhammet Karataş, Münevver Öter and Yakup Çaçur about the publications and documentaries on the website of TUBITAK MAM Polar Research Institute on the characteristics and importance of polar regions, life and plant species, and the impact of climate change, in order to determine the awareness of the Fine Arts High School painting department students about the polar regions and to enhance their information diversity and to investigate the contribution of their awareness to the awareness raising efforts on polar regions and climate change to be carried out in the society. As a result of the project, which lasted for 6 months, the participating students made oil paintings on the theme of "Climate Change/Arctic-Antarctica", with a view to raising the awareness of individuals of all ages, informing people about the polar regions and making people sensitive to the environment.
The exhibition was first opened in the art gallery of Van Üvercinka Culture and Art Center. Then, the authors of these works exhibited their paintings widely at the 2nd Polar Festival, which was held on December 1, 2021 at the TUBITAK Gebze campus with the support of the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute. The students participating in the project gave information to the visitors about the oil painting works that draw attention to the effects of global warming on the polar regions.
Now, with the support of TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute and Kocaeli Science Center, the exhibition opens on April 18, 2022 awaiting you in the Atrium Area of Kocaeli Science Center to be visited free of charge until June 19, 2022.
