The Science Symposium of AFoPS (Asian Forum for Polar Sciences) was held online on 3-4 March 2021. During the meeting that aimed to develop bilateral collaborations of member countries, a presentation was made to introduce TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute and Turkey’s plans in polar research fields.
AFoPS (Asian Forum for Polar Sciences) is a non-governmental organization that was established in 2004 to promote and facilitate cooperative research activities among the Asian countries. The Forum is composed of national polar research institutions representing China, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand. It also includes observer countries which are Austria, Indonesia, Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Turkey. Since 2016, Turkey attends the meetings of AFoPS to closely follow up the polar studies of Asian countries and to establish collaborations.
