New Regulation on Environmental Protection Enters Into Force

As part of the Antarctic Scientific initiations under the auspices of the Presidency of Republic of Turkey and the coordination of TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute, a great step has been taken. Under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, “Regulation on the Implementation of Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty” entered into force upon being published in the Official Gazette no.31154 dated 13 June 2020. The Regulation during the formation of which TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute expressed opinions has become a cornerstone in Turkey’s application for “Consultative Member State” status in the Antarctic Treaty.
